Trenchip employs long-lasting passive RFID sensors for precise location of tagged assets. The sensors are specially designed to remain inside the trenches and be subsequently detected from the surface with the Trenchip reader device, which allows the control of the markings without the need to excavate and provides greater security when reopening the trenches.

The Trenchip software integrates a Geographic Information System (GIS), which allows the distribution of active sensors to be displayed on the map and recognizes pipeline traces, as well as accessing the details of each marked point, through the Trenchip web platform.

The implementation of Trenchip solves the traceability of the information related to the marked points and facilitates their management. Trenchip’s web and mobile applications simplify the entry, consultation and updating of data, documents and images of assets, tasks that can be performed both on-site and remotely.

With Galileo, 100% accurate location
The Trenchip reader’s GNSS receiver, developed by Witeklab, combines the signals from the European Galileo system and those of other fleets of positioning satellites currently in operation, with terrestrial coverage receivers in most territories.
Using noise reduction algorithms, atmospheric dispersive effects, and Doppler error correction, it achieves greater accuracy than other systems, ensuring accurate sensor detection.

Trenchip incorporates technology developed jointly by the Witeklab team of engineers and the Metamaterials Research Center for Innovation in Electronic and Communications Technologies (CIMITEC) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
Witeklab’s “Underground precise pipe localization” project TRENCHIP was the winner in 2020 of the Galileo Masters Catalonia Challenge in the Galileo satellite category.
