Witeklab, a pioneer in technological solutions for infrastructure monitoring and management, promotes its international expansion with the opening of a new office in Asuncion (Paraguay), the company’s first in the Americas. From this new office, Witeklab will cover all Latin America offering its solutions to the construction and infrastructure management sectors, based on detection and monitoring by means of advanced sensor technology and data transmission, processing and presentation.

Witeklab’s portfolio includes innovative solutions, some of them unique in the market, including Corrochip, for corrosion monitoring and assessment in reinforced concrete structures; Testacor, for corrosion detection in on-site inspections; Monsec, for online monitoring of concrete setting in real time; Rockchip, for active monitoring of screens and dynamic barriers in slopes, anchors and earthworks; or Trenchip, for the location and information of subway assets with digitized document management.

Coinciding with the opening of the new headquarters in Paraguay, Witeklab has signed a collaboration agreement with Busscollab, a company based in Utah (USA), to introduce Corrochip in the North American market.

Manel Torrentallé, CEO of Witeklab, has stated that Utah is a strategic market for the company, being one of the most dynamic economies in the United States, whose GDP is growing at a rate higher than the national average, and also highly diversified, with the technology and construction services sectors among the strongest.

Corrosion is a challenge for building and infrastructure managers in this US state, where the particular environmental conditions, with areas of high salinity, are a risk to the integrity of reinforced concrete structures. The corrosion detection and structural health monitoring systems developed by Witeklab, in particular Corrochip and Testacor, offer very advanced solutions to this problem compared to other systems available on the market, with unique features for integrity assurance and predictive maintenance of reinforced concrete constructions.

Testacor is a new generation, non-invasive, portable corrosion tester for the detection of corrosion in reinforced concrete, intended for use during in situ inspections of structures. This device employs a non-destructive and highly reliable method based on a patented controlled polarization technique, which has been developed by a multidisciplinary team of researchers from the Instituto de Ciencias de la Construcción Eduardo Torroja – CSIC. Some of its features are the simultaneous measurement of several key parameters, with real-time calculation of the corrosion rate, the ease of use through a mobile app and the possibility of accessing the information both locally and on a server.

Corrochip, on the other hand, is a comprehensive solution for the detection, monitoring and evaluation of corrosion in reinforced concrete, which uses sensors integrated into the structure to perform long-term measurements of key parameters, in real time, and processes the data in the cloud, providing a highly accurate estimation of the corrosion rate. This solution, developed jointly with a team of researchers from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), employs an innovative, non-destructive and highly reliable technique to measure corrosion.

Through this agreement, Witeklab offers Busscollab’s customers its technical consulting services and the advice of a highly qualified team with extensive knowledge in the management of corrosion in concrete structures.

This new alliance and the opening of the office in Paraguay mark an important milestone in Witeklab’s international expansion and is a strategic step that will allow the company to consolidate its position as a leader in the development of technological solutions for infrastructure monitoring and management and to reinforce its commitment to innovation and growth.
